Amazing out of the box movies 2013

The year 2013 was yet another amazing for the B-Towners, with all the glamour, new records and new Jodi’s. But, this year also marked some amazingly nice low budget movies to hit the blockbuster charts. Surprisingly, some much-unexpected movies did very well and left an impact on the audience and the critics as well. Here are some extremely amazing movies of 2013, which did out well more than expected.

Special 26

Special 26 (also known as Special Chabbis) is a 2013 release. It is an Indian robbery thriller film. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles with Jimmy Shergill, Manoj Bajpai and Anupam Kher in supporting roles. The film is based on a real-life robbery incident, which took place on 19 March 1987 where a group of cons posed as CBI officers executing an income tax raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai.
The film earned positive critical acclaim and later the audience response too.

Kai Po Chekai_po_che

Kai Po Che! is a 2013 Indian drama friendship based film. The movie is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel “The 3 Mistakes of My Life”. The movie stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh star as the three male leads while Amrita Puri plays the female lead. The film was critically very much acclaimed also, it got a huge positive response from the audience, especially amongst the youngsters.

Aashiqui 2 is a 2013 Bollywood romantic musical drama film. The movie starred new comers like Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. This film is the sequel of the 1990 musical hit film Ashiqui. Aashiqui 2 is a love story between two singers Rahul and Arohi, and how their relationship gets affected by Rahul’s alcohol addiction. Initially, Ashiqui 2 was doubted if it could reach up to the expectation of the original film, but the film proved to be a huge blockbuster hit although it gained mixed reviews.

The songs “Tum Hi Ho” and “Sun Raha Hai” were and still are on top of the chart lists.


Fukrey is a 2013 Indian comedy film. The movie stars Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadda, Vishakha Singh, and Priya Anand in the lead roles. The film is about four friends, who plan a scheme to make more money in less time. Initailly, the movie had a very poor response, as it consisted of a new and very young cast. But, later after the great reviews of audience and critics the film went on to become a big hit.
Simple locations, but great actors and script made the movie a real diamond from the junk.

Shuddh Desi Romanceshuddh-desi-romance

Shuddh Desi Romance is a 2013 Bollywood romantic comedy film. The film features Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and the debut of the new actress Vaani Kapoor in leading roles. The film is all about the young generation’s love fundas on what they think about arranged marriages, live-in relationships and commitments. Even though,  the film did not receive great reviews from critics, it still proved to be a huge hit from the response of audiences.
The new comer Sushant did much well than expected and therefore the movie was a surprise package.

The Lunchboxlunchbox

The Lunchbox is a 2013 Indian old fashioned romantic film. The film features today’s great actors of parallel stars Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. The film was screened at various International Film Festival and earned huge praises. Along with that, the movie also was critically loved and earned on and  on ratings in India. The movie did fairly well at the box-office and was an average hit.
The Lunchbox proved to be a strong contender in the Oscar race from the Indian cinema league.

Mickey Virusmickey_virus_movie

Mickey Virus is 2013 Hindi Thriller comedy film. The film stars Manish Paul, Elli Avram, Manish Choudhary, Puja Gupta, and Varun Badola in the main characters. The film is based on the modern world of cyber crime and hacking. The film recieved mixed, but mostly positive reviews after it was released. Although, the movie did not do that well at the box-office, but sure left a good impression on the critics as well as the audience who went to watch it.
So, this were quite the offbeat movies of 2013, out of which some gained positive critical response, while some gained positive audience response and some surprisingly gained both. Well, Bollywood is always full of surprises and so we hope this year too that we get more of this surprise package than the previous year.
